This Very Moment
Written by Danielle
Like they say, we’ve been preparing our entire lives for this very moment!
We are happy that you find yourself here. We look forward to sharing with you our travels and experiences along the walkabout journey. It’s amazing how we get to connect with each other in this medium. As we have been inspired by so many others before us we hope to share back some of that.
This way of life we choose is to serve as a “vehicle” for continuing the cultivation our inner journey. No doubt, resistance to anything new might want to sneak in. Saying goodbye to family and friends, familiar routes and landscapes, and all that we have come to know will be challenging. We didn’t choose this lifestyle for leisure or to “drop it all”. We don’t take it for granted this opportunity. Getting to this point has taken the most willpower and trusting in what we know we must do.
This exploration is to illuminate and elevate the knowledge of who we are. The places, the people, and scenery connecting as a vital piece of this learning process.
When we take a chance and trust the decision it creates a space for a new way of living and being beyond what we already know. Results in alignment of a natural state discovering the unknown.
“All of us, whether or not we are warriors, have a cubic centimeter of chance that pops out in front of our eyes from time to time. The difference between an average man and a warrior is that the warrior is aware of this, and one of his tasks is to be alert, deliberately waiting, so that when his cubic centimeter pops out he has the necessary speed, the prowess, to pick it up.”
“Everything is sweetened by risk.” Alexander Smith
Making this decision we had to sacrifice some things that were not so easy; a happy home, my income/career, our beloved pets, and the general security of having your community around you. For the sake of material possessions, it feels awesome to have lightened the load. We paid more attention to what we really need and use. As a result of having our environment simplified, we feel much more at ease too.
It was a year ago, last September, on our way back from a trip Nashville that we didn’t want to stop traveling. We found ourselves exploring every van possibility and talking about what it would take to do something like this. A final fork in the road, this time that it was deciding us, we were no longer deciding it.
We always wanted to have a VW camper van, but finding one in decent condition can be rare. Surprisingly and with some persistence, it wasn’t long our Craigslist searches we found what we were looking for. With the van claimed for we began looking at what we needed to do to be ready. We set our date to start for September 1st. Checking off all of the must-dos, we’re closer than ever before. It’s truly an honor for us to have this opportunity.
Just under a week away and there’s still a lot to accomplish. I guess that’s with everything though van life or not. Some tasks are more priority than others. If we left right now we would be ready.
Feeling very blessed & grateful to have this upcoming time to discover new avenues and resources for creating.
Salutes to those who are making a living from the road! While I’ll be taking a break from my job Neal will continue to work full-time.
We do our best to impart all good intentions. We’re happy you landed here and hope you will continue to journey with us.

Fearlessness is our motto, not security
This our path and we will enter into it no different than any other we’ve taken before. We find our way through the experience of letting go and allowing for new.
